我之前说pendragon在2001年发布了不属于这个世界后，他们开始寻求突破，接着在05、08、11发布了被我称为黑暗三部曲的believe、pure和passion。believe虽然名为相信\信仰，但是主题粗略看来确实讨论不信仰者，他们怀疑这个世界的一切，质疑是否一切都是虚假和邪恶的。，pure则主题黑暗和畸形，关乎表达着一种黑暗、危机感、不安全感、畸形心理和变态行为，以及对现实的批判。而在这张passion中，pendragon再次在歌词中庆祝了怀疑和批判，似乎在探讨人的 *** ，实则是批评人类借着这种 *** 而胡作非为。这在This Green And Pleasant Land一歌中表现得最为淋漓透彻：

只拿你所需要的，走你自己的路人类借着 *** 之名而实施暴行，用战争拿取自己需要的东西，只走自己的路而不管别人的死活，美其名曰 *** 。而相比 *** ，pendragon更加赞赏同情\移情，在第一首主题曲中唱到：Passion? Give me some empathy。 *** ？不如给我一些同情\移情吧。pendragon显然想要表达只有移情才能拯救人类的暴行，而多少罪恶是 *** 所引发的啊。在整张专辑中（可以算作是含有一个模糊主题的概念专辑）大部分歌都在对 *** 所在成的后果进行描述和批判，没有多少光明的描绘。而封面也很有意思，两个人口咬粗绳，但似乎在相互较劲，都想要独吞。
音乐上来说，这张专辑延续了前两张的折衷或融合，一个更加时髦\流行的AOR\pop摇滚风格，加上更重型的金属化，第二首歌Empathy的开头甚至有点厄运和极端金属气息，以及加上一些电子化的氛围（有些后金的味道了），而仅有最后一首Your Black Heart比较安静。当然他们也没有丢掉交响乐和围绕吉他solo为主的旧风格，最后杂糅出了一张不错的专辑。
