Performance stage has always been a mystical fascination to me.

Once I was born, I turned on my voice box to full volume and had some real fun after being held back for seven months.

The entire audience in the ward cheered for me.

In every performance, I always went up to the stage to watch.

Even though I was cramped between thick curtains and sweated profusely from the stifling, I kept up my enthusia *** .

Grandma couldn’t bear to see me worked till my face was drenched with tears and sweat.
每次都目不忍视地躲到里屋。
Every time she couldn’t bear to watch and hid away in the house.
我自己倒从没叫过苦、喊过疼——
In contrast, I did not complain about sufferings or pains.
让观众看我哭哭啼啼地演戏，像什么话呀？
It just wouldn’t be right if the audience had to witness my wailing during a performance.

Summer went and winter came.
几年后，我就可以下腰到地，双手倒抓住脚腕；或一手抓住举过头顶的脚心，做前后翻，跑虎跳，其他基本功的动作更不在话下。
After a few years, I could perform such acts as bending backward to reach ground with hand, grabbing ankles with both hands going backward, grabbing sole of foot lifted over the head, flipping backward and forward somersaults, making cartwheels, and of course doing the other basic moves.

One time performing art master Zhao Dan and cartoonist Zhang Leping came to our home and naturally wanted to see my performance.

Midway through the show the two of them started to whisper to each other.
身为主演的我大为不满，竟然出了戏，
As a performer I was displeased and unexpectedly was derailed from acting the part in some instances.
跑到他们面前，提出 *** ：“不许说话，
I ran in front of them and protested: “No talking is allowed.
不然下次看你们演戏我也说话。”
Otherwise I will talk too next time I watch your performance.”
事后妈妈批评我没有风度，
Afterwards Mother decried my ungraciousness.
我说：“您不是常说要老实做人，认真演戏吗？”
I said: “Didn’t you always say I should be truthful in conducting myself and serious in my performance.”
妈妈听了无言以对。
Mother was lost for words in response.
