我国镍币的起源要追溯到清朝光绪末年，清廷为规范币制，而委托英国伯明翰造币厂代制了拾分、伍分、贰分三种“镍样币”，因为镍币正面除数字面值外，全部是英文，所以被慈禧太后以没有满文为由拒绝，这部分“镍样币”就是我国镍币的始祖，价值连城。
