Vektor是美国的前卫激流金属乐队，来自于亚利桑那州的坦佩（我原以为是死亡金属的圣地佛州坦帕，但并不是）。乐队成立于2003年（一说2002年底），深受加拿大的传奇金属乐队Voivod所影响，以高超的技术和科幻的题材而为人所知。乐队在2009年和2011年分别发行了前两张专辑《Black Future》和《Outer Isolation》。在获得不错的反响之后，乐队改签了极端金属名厂耳痛唱片（Earache Records）。
2016年，乐队在耳痛唱片发行第三张全长专辑《Terminal Redux》，这张长达73分钟的概念专辑以精致复杂的编曲和恢弘大气的创作理念而获得了不小的成功，风评也趋于两极分化，瞬间成了当年金属乐的年度话题专辑。
然而好景不长，专辑发行后不久，乐队除主脑David DiSanto以外的所有成员宣布退队，虽然大家都没明说缘由，但想必是闹了矛盾。不过David表示乐队会继续进行下去，笔者在这里也祝他好运。
这次翻译的是他们的第一张全长专辑《Black Future》，这张专辑的九首歌基本上都是在描绘近未来的末世科幻危机，其中也对进化论、基因工程等问题有所探讨。由于笔者是第一次翻译，又是独立完成，鲁鱼亥豕之误在所难免，也恳请读者朋友批评指正。
