Its in the Stars
Since the beginning of time, people have wondered about their futures. Theyve sought out psychics, fortunetellers and crystal balls, all in the hope of finding out what the future holds. For many, the stars hold the answers about upcoming life events. Astrology is the study of the stars for the purpose of learning about the destiny of a person. This is a complicated system that began around 250 BC. The Greeks were the first to devise the system of Natal Astrology. It used the date and time of a persons birth to give insight into the persons future. In the beginning, there were various branches of astrology, but they were eventually combined to form the zodiac chart. The zodiac chart is divided into 12 birth signs, including Gemini, Sagittarius, Virgo, and so on.
Various newspapers, magazines and websites are dedicated to astrology, with many of them offering daily horoscopes. A horoscope is a prediction of daily events in a persons life. For example, today might be a good day for a Gemini to go out with friends, while it would be unwise for a Sagittarian to move to a new house. Different cultures and groups have their own forms of astrology, but they are still based on the desire to know what lies in the future.
Aries (03/21-04/20)
Taurus (04/21-05/20)
Gemini (05/21-06/21)
Cancer (06/22-07/22)
Leo (07/23-08/22)
Virgo (08/23-09/22)

The Collecting Craze
Walking into Jennifers bedroom, your eyes widen with amazement. From top to bottom every surface is covered in Doraemon, the blue and white Japanese cartoon character. Nightly, while wearing Doraemon pajamas, the 22-year-old logs onto eBay to look for more objects. She is a woman with a mission. She is a woman obsessed. She is a collector.
Most of us collect something at one time or another in our lives. Cute stuffed toys, comic books, coins, and postcards are just a few of the items that many may choose to collect. Primarily, we collect because looking at our prized possessions allows us to savor a moment in time. Men that collect figurines of cartoon superheroes from their childhood recapture their youth with one glance. However, there is a fine line between collecting and going over the top.
People preoccupied with gathering specific objects can become controlled by this obsession. Their lives are driven not by normal pursuits, but by the desire to amass more of the precious items. Some collectors are forced to add additions onto their homes to house their collections. For example, three Australian roommates turned their home into a house of collection. They have 80 teddy bears, 50 vacuum cleaners, 100 pencil sharpeners, 50 or so Mickey Mouse items, and thousands of other pieces.
Collecting can be fun, profitable, and interesting, but it shouldnt consume your life. If you find yourself being edged out of your home by stuffed toys, coffee mugs, or any other item, you may be collecting too much.
